Top Ten Things I’m Thankful For

I usually don’t participate of Top Ten Tuesday, but I couldn’t pass on today’s topic.

Top TenSeven Things I’m Thankful For

– I’m thankful for my husband and my daughter. Without them, my life wouldn’t have any meaning.

– I’m thankful for the rest of my family. Even though I’m away from most of my family, I still think they are the most important thing in my life. That they are my foundation.

– I’m thankful for my friends. Real life friends, long-time-no-see friends, online friends, writer friends, crazy friends.

– I’m thankful for being so fortunate. I have a home, I have a car, I have food on my plate, I have clothes to put on … in Brazil, there are a lot of homeless people or very poor people who live in shacks along the roads, especially in big cities and to see them like that always twists my stomach. I might complaint a lot about my day, about certain shitty things that happens here and then, but I know it could be so much worse, so so so much worse. I’m so, so thankful for my life and the way it is.

– I’m thankful for my health. That’s all that matters, right? I’m healthy enough to fight for what I want, to go after my dreams.

– I’m thankful for being able to do what I love – WRITING!

– I’m thankful for books and everything about them – book bloggers, readers, authors, editors, agents, and everything in the publishing industry.

Oh, since I probably won’t blog again this week: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Cheers,

TTT: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me

Today’s topic is:

Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me

Well, see, December is quite the month for gifts for me … my birthday is on the 18th, just one week before Christmas!

And these are the books you guys can get me, for B’day or Christmas (hihi) in no particular order:

1. The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead, which releases Feb 2013 — Richelle is my idol. Need to say more?

2. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor — The first one was so beautiful and heart-breaking. I hope this one is as good as the first.

3. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin — well, my friends Lauren and EM don’t stop gushing over this book (and the guy in it, of course).

4. Insurgent by Veronica Roth — what can I say? My TBR pile is too large. I have too many books in my kindle and, even though I want to read this one asap, it’s just seems unfair to spend on it when I have others wanting attention.

5. Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning — another one I heard people saying it’s great and nearly perfect.

6. Stray by Rachel Vincent — this one caught my attention because the heroine is in college. New Adult, anyone?

7. Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead — I just said she’s my ido, right? And yet, the same rule of Insurgent applies here. I want to devour anything Richelle writes, but I can’t spend more having so many to read from.

8. Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst — I just love the cover and the blurb is nice too.

9. Awry by Chelsea Fine — I know, I know. Yesterday I twitter fought Amy from YA Sisterhood for Tristan (the hot guy in this book) and I didn’t even read the second one. Well, same thing as Insurgent and Thorn Queen here.

10. Touched by Corrine Jackson — I remember when she got her agent and then her deal. I read her query letter somewhere and was hooked. I wanted to read it like right now. I still want.

Most of these are books that are already released, but I didn’t have time to read them yet! I have over 50 unread books on my kindle and about 10 print books on my shelf waiting to be cracked open. I need more time to read! And it does seem to unwise to buy dozens of books more just because I want to read them. I’ll end up with a library for a living room and I won’t be able to read 30% of all the books I own, if you let me lol

Anyway, how about you? What are the books you want for Christmas?

Cheers,

TTT: Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

Today’s topic is:

Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished

So. I’m gonna cheat. Again.

I started a list of the series I didn’t finish and it went well over ten. Of course. But I noticed the reason were repeated …

Here’s how I’m gonna do. Point out the reason, then list the series that fits that reason.

1. Didn’t LOVE it enough to keep going (and really, I got to LOVE LOVE LOVE it to keep following a series):

  • The Mediator by Meg Cabot
  • Darkest Powers by Kelley Armstrong
  • Across the Universe by Beth Revis
  • Covenant by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • Beautiful Demons by Sarra Cannon
  • Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

2. Too many books on my kindle already. Dying to finish/read the next one but don’t want to spend more money:

  • The Dark Sawn series by Richelle Mead – She’s my idol. I can’t believe I didn’t read all her books yet. But there it is.
  • The Inheritance Cicle – the ebook costs $13.99, can you believe that?
  • Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
  • The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
  • TMI by Cassandra Clare *hides under desk*
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • The Archers of Avalon by Chelsea Fine
  • Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward
  • Graceling by Kristin Cashore

3. Procrastinated. I have these on my kindle but didn’t get to them yet, and not sure when—if—I will:

  • Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking
  • Firelight by Sophie Jordan
  • House of Night by PC Cast and Kristin Cast

What about you? Which series did you drop and why?

TTT: Top Ten Bookish People I’d Like to Meet

I’ve been lurking and watching the Top Ten Tuesday from The Broke and The Bookish for a long while and avoiding participating because of time—I need more time! Today I need to participate. The topic is too good!

Top Ten Bookish People I’d Like to Meet

Ten won’t be enough, so I’m gonna cheat a little …

1. My writer-friends:

  • Writers I’ve met through Ladies Who Critique: Jani, Tracy, Ladonna, Bridget, Stefanie, Melissa, Priya, Kelley …
  • Writers I’ve met through YA Highway’s RTW: Elodie, Jaime, Colin, Robin, Alison, Katy, Tracey, Donelle …
  • Writers I’ve met through ROW80: Lauren, Em, EM, Lena, Julie, Jenny, Karen …
  • My NA sisters: Bailey, LG, Jaycee, Victoria, Carrie, and Summer.
  • Writers I’ve met through the community: Kat, Cait, Ghenet, Jessa, Suzanne, Karen, Renita, EJ, Lynn, Brenda, Shelley, Erica, Dahlia, Jenny, Taryn, Sarah, Alex, Cassie, Theresa, Hope …
  • And many others that I’m probably missing … sorry!

2. This one I’m stealing from Colin: “A Literary Agent Who Wants to Represent Me. Seriously. If you’re a literary agent and you want to represent me, I want to meet you. Really soon.” << Exactly!

3. Richelle Mead. She’s  my idol. I just LOVE everything, anything she writes. Need I say more?

4.  The author-friends Kiersten White, Beth Revis, Natalie Whipple and Stephanie Perkins. They are fun, they are curious, they are savvy, they have wonderful books (I know Natalie’s book isn’t out yet, but I KNOW it’ll rock).

5. Joss Whedon. Yea, not a book author, but an “author” nevertheless. He’s THE MAN. Period.

6. Sarah J. Maas. My newest idol. I’m in love with her book Throne of Glass, and seriously can’t wait for the next one.

7. Christopher Paolini. Love him and his books. You know a character who reminds me of him? Seth from the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead. I’m dead serious. I think Richelle got inspired by him. Just saying.

8. The YA Highway ladies! They are awesome and their posts are dead on.

9. Paulo Coelho. Not really my style of reading, though I did read some of his books, but he’s Brazilian like me, and he’s super famous worldwide. Besides, I loved his book The Alchemist and the message I saw in it.

10. J.K. Rowling. Dude, she’s Harry Potter’s mother! And Hermione’s, and Ron’s, and Snape’s, and Dumbledore’s, and Neville’s, and Luna’s … need I go on?

How about you? Who would you like to meet in this writerly world?

Cheers,
