The Post About All The Things

Hello friends,

There are so many things going on around here, a lot of things changing, book and writing wise, I mean, and I want to tell you all about it so you don’t miss anything, so if you haven’t already, go grab some coffee or tea or wine, and come back to read it all!

About Me, Life, and Writing

We’re all living through unprecedented times. Things are super crazy right now, but thank goodness, my family and I are fine. We’re closer than ever, we’re happy, we’re healthy. My only issue with all this covid-19 thing (in a personal level) is the fact that the kids are home all the time, which means my writing time shrunk a lot since March. Even though I prefer them at home right now and will keep them at home and do virtual learning (school starts back next week), I miss having my alone time at home when I could write and write and write.

And now school is starting back for the 2020-2021 year, and I just know things will be a little hectic, at least for a while until we get into a routine–and that will eat up even more of my already little writing time.

Which means, I’ll be writing even less …

I do have 3 books scheduled to come out by January 2021 (you’ll read about them below)–and those are mostly ready–so I think I’ll be able to continue publishing a book every 2 maybe 3 months for a while.

As for what I’m writing next … I’ve decided to stay in the Rite World for a little longer (or indefinitely if you guys keep reading those books! lol). I’m actually outlining 2 series in that world right now: one, a Upper YA Urban Fantasy which will have the same feel as the Blackthorn Hunters Academy (though it won’t be set in an academy), and two, a standalone NA/Adult Paranormal Romance that will feel a lot like the Rite of ___ (Vampire, Warlock, Wolf), but instead of being a trilogy for each couple, it’ll be standalone books. I had thought about writing both at the same time, like write book 1 of one series, then book 1 of the other series, then go back to book 2 of the first series, and so on. But I’ll be honest, with the kids home and one girl in kindergarten and me having to stay with her in front of the computer for several hours doing all the work with her, I’m just not sure how I’ll be able to manage writing two series at a time. Before the pandemic, I wrote about 3.5-5k words per weekday. Now I’m super lucky when I write 750-1k words 4x a week. I think I’ll choose one of those 2 series and start with it. When the pandemic goes away and the kids can go back to school, and I regain my precious writing time, I’ll rethink the juggling series thing.

Also, I’m just finishing a novella (title: The Vampire Hunt) which will be exclusive for my newsletter subscribers, so if you haven’t already, subscribe to my newsletter (scroll down to the “Where to Find Me” part for the link). I have another novella (title: The Dark Calling) which I wrote and had free for a while a few years back. I realized I can revamp that novella a bit and set it in the Rite World, so I’ll do that still this month. I do not know what I’ll do with this second novella–probably add it as a bonus on a boxed set or something. Regardless, if you subscribe to my newsletter and/or join my facebook group, you’ll hear about it.

All right … let’s talk about other stuff now …

Look! It’s Shiny!

Since the beginning, I was the one manning the design of my website and blog. It went for a couple of changes in the past couple of years, but I was never truly pleased with it.

So I finally gave in and hired Miss Rebecca Berto from Berto Designs to create a new “face” for my blog.

And I love it!

What do you think?

Cheers,

To Facebook or not to Facebook?

I caved in and created a Facebook Fan Page for me. Actually, I had promised myself I would do it once I signed a book contract. Since I already signed a contract, I did what I said I would do.

Honestly, so far I have seen no advantage to this, but there it is. I’m still learning how to use the Fan Page, since it’s a bit different than the personal profile.

Shameless self-promotion time: I would appreciate a few “likes” ;)

I guess that the Facebook Fan Page will become more useful once I have more news about my novels? Not sure.

Do you guys have a Facebook Fan Page? Do you like it? How do you use it?

***

I also have a personal profile on Facebook (with my married name), from where I like other authors/writers Fan pages and where only add real-life friends. That profile was created way before I decided to pursue this career of writer and author and I have tons of photos from me and my real-life friends there, from when we were babies to today … I don’t think my real-life friends wouldw ant the whole internet being able to see those photos.

I say this because I had a few authors/writers/readers who I don’t know in real-life add me as a friend through my personal profile. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nothing personal, but I won’t add you there. I’ll like your fan page, yes, but I won’t befriend you with my Facebook personal profile. Only if you become a real-life friend too, then the game changes.

I love all my online friends and the writing community, I love chatting and tweeting and blog commenting, but there are parts of my life that will remain private to me and my family and my close friends, and my personal profile on Facebook is one of them.

Cheers,
