#ROW80 and NTS Check-in 05/27

If you’re here for my entry for the Curiosity Quills contest, click here.

Hello friends!

Here are my goals and how I’m doing:

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule. Done.
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week. Done.
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th. Done.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT. Done. BUT IT’LL COME BACK NEXT WEEK!
  • Start a new novel or novella and get as far as I can with it. I finished the novelette, revised it, sent it off to betas and CPs (got back from one already). This week I plotted, outlined, revised and revised again, and also wrote a total of 4800 words toward a new novella. I had planned writing another 2k to 3k on Friday, but I was assaulted by a migraine late morning, and, when I went to bed, it was still going strong. It was a terrible day … it had been a while since I last had a  migraine like that. Hope it stays away for a long while this time too lol
  • In June, participate of the JuNoWriMo. Waiting for June.
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60). On track.
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday. Done.

And the revisions of DESTINY GIFT are back, yes. Next week, you’ll see me tackling into it ;)

Peeps from the afternoon #ROW80 sprints: I’ll try to continue participating, but I’ll be leading sprints through the JuNoWriMo twitter account from 1pm to 4pm on weekdays (EST) during the month of June … so, I’ll be online in 2 accounts and try to do sprints on both lol Let’s see if I can … if I can’t, I’ll drop our sprints, because I compromised with the JuNoWriMo event and I won’t start by doing something wrong with it ;)

And that’s it for now.

Don’t forget to check out the other members of ROW80 here.

Happy Holiday!

Cheers,

#ROW80 and NTS Check-in 05/20

Hello friends! Welcome to another check-in for ROW80 and NTS.

Here are my goals and how I’m doing:

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule. Done.
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week. Only twice. I was going Friday, but it was my daughter birthday, so I stayed home and played tea party with her instead. And I don’t regret it ;)
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th. Done.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT. Done. (this goal might come back next week or so, and, if it comes back, I’ll explain why).
  • Start a new novel or novella and get as far as I can with it. Wrote just over 12000 words this week. For someone who didn’t write Monday (don’t even ask why …), I guess it went well. I’m working on a novelette (paused the assassin novella for now). It should be done by Monday or Tuesday next week, if everything keeps going well.
  • In June, participate of the JuNoWriMo. Waiting for June.
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60). On track.
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday. Done.

I’m getting better, feeling a little bit more motivated, though there are moments that I want to write so bad, but just stare at the damn monitor.

I saw a quote this week that I liked very much and decided to pass it on: “Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” — William Shakespeare

#ROW80 and NTS check-in 05/13

Hello friends! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the moms out there!

If you’re here and don’t know what ROW80 is, check it out here. This is also my update for Noveling Through Summer.

Also, check out the cover reveal of the Cynthia Cooke’s new book posted earlier this morning.

Here are my goals (and how I’m doing):

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule. Done. We bought two new bookcases Saturday, one for me and one for my daughter. So far, she loves books!
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week. Twice only. I totally forgot  about my daughter’s mother’s day concert on Thursday and almost went to the gym instead lol
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th. Done.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT. Done.
  • Start a new novel or novella and get as far as I can with it. I wrote a few chapters in or 6,500 words. If you know me, you know this is a low word count for me. As someone who has the entire afternoon to write, I should get at lest 3,500 per day … but it’s been so hard to focus lately. I have been so bleh … no reason, though, life is going well, family is great, health is okay, so why have I been feeling down? And the more I try to push writing, the more I feel like my writing sucks LOL Anyway, I know it’s a temporary feeling and hopefully I’ll feel much better this week and write more and more ;)
  • In June, participate of the JuNoWriMo. I’m thinking about rewriting Gypsy Heart (curious? See the projects tab on top).
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60). On track.
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday. Done.

And that’s it for now.

You can click here and check the other ROWers and how they are doing.

#ROW80 Check-in 05/06

Hello there!

Welcome to the weekly #ROW80 check-in.

Here are my goals (and how I’m doing):

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule. Almost done. Actually, I’ll consider this done, since we won’t add anything new to the house for a while and my office is workable ;)
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week. I actually went to the gym on Monday and signed the contract. Then went to classes on Wed (pilates mat) and Fri (Groove … or dancing). Not 3 times a week, but progress! Next week will be 3x for sure ;)
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th. Today is the last day, so done.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT. Done! Done! Done!
  • Start a new novel or novella and get as far as I can with it. Still on planning stages, though I wrote 2 scenes already and have the outline for many others scribbled down. I filled the beatsheet too (Save the Cat! anyone?). I’m gonna try to finish it in May, because of … (look at next line) …
  • In June, participate of the JuNoWriMo. To count, I’ll start writing something new here. I”m thinking a novelette and novella, and add up to 50k words with both.
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60). On track.
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday. Done. May will be a busy month on my blog, with lots of blog hops and blog tours.

This week was busy! I finished revising DESTINY GIFT, and there was also the launch of my group blog NA Alley … did you guys check it out yet? You should ;) We’re a group of seven writers trying to promote the New Adult category, which isn’t recognized yet, but we won’t change what we write because it doesn’t exist. Anyway … you can visit the blog and read all about it there. Oh, there’s a giveaway going on there!

And Friday, I spent the day with a migraine and because of that, couldn’t focus on anything. Got nothing done on Friday =(

I think I forgot to say this before, but Saturdays and Sundays are family days, where I try to do nothing writing-related, other than read a book after sleeping. I’ll probably add that to my “goals* …

That’s it for now.

#ROW80 Check-in 04/28

Hey guys, sorry I’m posting this late.

My goals:

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule. Getting there. This week we finished our bedroom and organized enough of my new office that I can work on it already.
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week. Trying to get the strength to face execrcising this upcoming week.
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th. Still up for it, but going slow.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT. Working on it. I revised a bunch of pages and wrote new ones. I think I got a bit over 3k new words this week. If you guys know me, you know this is low for me …
  • Start a new novel or novella and get as far as I can with it. Only after I finish revising DESTINY GIFT. But at least I already know what I want to write (I’ve been taking notes of the scenes I see in my mind).
  • In June, participate of the JuNoWriMo (probably with the novel or novella mentioned on the line above). Only in June.
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60). GoodReads tells me I’m a couple of books ahead, but I think it’s because I’ve been reading novellas and they are quicker ;)
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday. Done.

On Tuesday, I had some errands and ended up running around and writing only a little. On Wednesday, I had to travel 1 hour north to go to the local USCIS office to do my biometrics for my SSN. Next up for that is an interview … but I have no idea when that will be.

Saturday and this morning, I had that damn 8-hour course for the DMV … it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The instructor was a retired patrol officer, so he told us lot of things he actually saw on the road. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that cars can easily become weapons if you’re not careful enough … I think that, after some time on the road, we take cars and driving for granted. Well, I won’t bore you with a lecture about it lol

Anyway, I didn’t write as much as I wanted and lost focus easily on Thursday and Friday … I did write some, but I know I could have done better. It’s like they say, when you work at home, you always find something that needs to be done other than your actual job … I hate that, but it happens a lot!

Ah, on Tuesday, my NA sisters and I are launching our group blog, called NA Alley. I have a post up with a little teasing, but, to learn more about it I suggest you come back here Tuesday to check on the link for the NA Alley ;)

And I’m hoping this coming week will be better, with more writing time ;)

#ROW80 Check-in 04/22

Hello everyone,

First, let me point you to a post I wrote on Thursday about JuNoWriMo. You probably know what it means, but go check it out ;)

I’m gonna try a new format for my check-in. Let’s see if it’s better.

Goals:

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule. This is going slow since last week, when we actually did a ton of work. Most of the necessary stuff is organized, so the not-so-necessary stuff are being left for when we’re up to it, or have spare time. This week we were able to buy our cars, so now I’ll have more time for myself (since I don’t have to drive hubby to and from work) and will be able to organize my schedule, which includes gym and exercise! (see below).
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week. Still not organized enough so I have that much free time. I know I should prioritize exercise more, but it’s hard to do knowing I could be writing instead. And, I have been searching and nothing really gets to me. Pilates is way too expensive and there’s nothing else I really want to do … but I found a gym with some nice-sounding exercises, so I might give it a try.
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th. This is going well. I haven’t turned in all assignments cause I’m not writing any novella now and have none to share, but I’m paying close attention to what’s been done and I’m commenting on assignments when I can.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT. Still working on this. I finished revising what I had written before, but, because I changed a few things on the beginning of the story, I need to write a couple (more like 10 or 12) new scenes in the middle. Monday and Tuesday, I revised. Wednesday and Thursday, I wrote new scenes. Friday was busy with life stuff, so no writing =(
  • Start a new novel or novella and get as far as I can with it. Only after I finish revising DESTINY GIFT, which has been hard since many ideas are floating in my head and begging for time.
  • In June, participate of the JuNoWriMo (probably with the novel or novella mentioned on the line above). It’s not June yet ;)
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60). Accordingly to GoodReads, I’m on track.
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday. All done. This is never hard to accomplish =P

It’s been hard to focus on only one thing to write/revise. My mind is everywhere and since I went back to writing last week, I’ve been changing my mind constantly about what to write next. It seems I’m unable to settle on one thing. And I need to. I feel that, if I want to be serious about this writing thing, I need to be able to choose one story and stick with it until the end. I know there will be times when I change directions. I’ve stopped in the middle of manuscripts before, with 40k+ words, many times actually, but I want to avoid that. I know it’ll be impossible to avoid it 100%, but I want to stick with the things I start!

Anyway, on happier notes, this Friday hubby and I completed 8 years of a very happy marriage! And we’re able to buy our cars (nice gifts, uh?). Things are settling at our house. Still trying to organize our new routine, but we haven’t been here for a whole month yet, so I’m guessing that’s normal.

This next week I have an appointment with USCIS (applying for my SSN) and I have another appointment with the Brazilian Consulate (also for the SSN) and both are around 50 minutes from here, so, I’m betting I’ll have more non-writing days than I would like.

Let’s see what happens ;)

Have a great week everyone!

Cheers,

#ROW80 Check-in 04/15

Here we are! Another check-in for the amazing ROW80 crew.

Recap of my goals:

  • Organize my new home and my new schedule.
  • Participate on Crafting the Sensual Novella Workshop from April 9th to May 6th.
  • Finish revising my novel, DESTINY GIFT.
  • Start a new novel and get as far as I can with it.
  • Read 5 books each month (year total = 60).
  • Social network: blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins), comment on blogs every other day, and tweet a little everyday.
  • Once my life is normal again (or almost), find a gym and exercise 3 times per week.

(not necessarily in this order)

So, where do I stand this week?

Writing:

Monday was my first day back at writing and I managed to get 2000 words out! Though, I feel like I cheated … because, in order to get my creative juices flowing, I decided to begin writing a new story, rather than keep the revision of my other manuscript (I left off half-way through the revision before the move to the US). Yes, I cheated, but it felt great too, great because I wrote, because it’s a good new story and I’m kinda excited about it ;)

Tuesday, I participated of #teamsprinty of #ROW80 and wrote a little over 800 words in on hour, plus another 700+ words later. That got me 1500 new words ;)

Wednesday, I wrote about 1400 words and rework about 2000.

Thursday, I worked on two lessons from the Workshop I’m taking, which was plot outline and characters’ GMC.

Friday, I had many errands to do, including going to the DMV again … no writing done =(

Reading:

It’s going well. Accordingly to Goodreads, I’m 4 books ahead of schedule.

Social Network:

All is good here too.

There are still many things to do at our new place yet, but we got a lot done too … but we’ve been only 1 week at the new house, so I guess we actually did a lot for such a short time. Though, now that the necessary stuff is done, I guess we’ll slow down, since getting a house done/decorated from scratch costs a lot!

That’s it for now. I hope to get more writing done this next week and I hope to find a nice gym and join it soon.

Cheers,
