ROW80 Check-in 04/07

Hey friends! Welcome to my weekly ROW80 update!

First, let me tell you about what has been happening over here. Well, I’ve been quite busy … Destiny Gift just released and the blog tour is close, so I’m writing guest posts and interviews right and left. And we’re moving this next week. We bought a house and I’ve been running up and down organizing everything (asking documents from Brazil, translating them, home insurance, transferring the electric and cable accounts, organizing the moving per se, and all else that it involves). So, I foresee almost no writing this next week.

Here are my goals for the past week and how it went:

  • Participate of CampNaNo. It’s going …
  • Writing: continue writing Breaking the Reins. I think I wrote only a little over 2k this week. But I also reread the 25k words I already have and revised them a bit …
  • Reading: keep up with Goodreads challenge. Done.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times. Done.
  • Exercising: at least 3x. Only 2x. With the moving, birthday parties, and walk-throughs, I barely had time to write. And write is more important than exercising lol

My goals for the next week:

  • Participate of CampNaNo
  • Writing: keep writing Breaking the Reins.
  • Reading: keep up with Goodreads challenge.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times.
  • Exercising: none.

Like I said above, this week is going to be crazy because of the closing and moving, so I kept it realistic: I doubt I can get any exercising done, and I know I’ll write only a little =(

On my blogs (this one and NA Alley) this week:

– Interview With Travis “Mad Dog” Maddox from Walking Disaster and Beautiful Disaster
– Featured Book of the Month: The Burning of Isobel Key by Jen McConnel (giveaway!)
– Announcement: Pitch Contest with Spencer Hill Press
– Vote for the next book on the Alley Reads!
– Cover Love: The Trouble with Goodbye by Sarra Cannon
– Cover Love: The Faerie Prince by Rachel Morgan

Oh, don’t forget that my novel Destiny Gift is out!

Amazon | Amazon(paperback) | Barnes&Nobles | Smashwords | Kobo | Goodreads | Pinterest Board

I added my next book to goodreads: Breaking the Reins! Add it to your shelf! You can help me with the cover reveal of Breaking the Reins! Just sign up here!

Have a great week, guys!

Cheers,

ROW80 round 02 of 2013 starts today!

I’M BACK TO ROW80!! Have you heard of it?

From the website:

A Round of Words in 80 Days is the writing challenge that knows you have a life.

We are all different and we all have different demands on our time.  Why should we all have the same goal?  The simple answer is that we shouldn’t.  If you want to be a writer, then you have to be able to roll with the punches and adapt to your changing circumstances.  If that means changing your goals when your life blows up, so be it.  ROW80 is the challenge that champions the marriage of writing and real life.

Like the last three rounds, I’ll set up weekly goals and check-in every Sunday.

So, my goals for the first week:

  • Participate of CampNaNo
  • Writing: finish Breaking the Reins, start Everlast #2.
  • Reading: keep up with Goodreads challenge.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times.
  • Exercising: at least 3x.

Did you like it? Want to sign up too? Click here to do so!

Good luck to us! Let’s have fun!

#ROW80 check-in 01/27

Hey friends! Welcome to my weekly ROW80 update!

Here are my goals for the past week and how it went:

  • Writing: continue writing Breaking the Reins. Mon = no school = kid at home = no writing. Tuesday = 1000 words. Wed = 1500 words. Thu = 3300 words. Fri = 1000 words.
  • Reading: finish reading book #5 and #6 of the year. Hm, I just finished book #7. And read the rest of my CP’s ms and returned to her (76 pages).
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times. Yeah, sorta.
  • Exercising: at least 4x. Five times.

I’ve been distracted this week because we’re house hunting. Slow and steady, but we have begun. Well, it’s exciting, and it’s stressful too, so that is taking a lot of my mind.

My goals for the next week:

  • Writing: continue writing Breaking the Reins (Mon, Tue and Wed).
  • Reading: read book #8 of the year.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times.
  • Exercising: at least 3x.

I’m going to Cancun this Thursday! Yeah, so exercise be damned, and I won’t get any writing on Thu and Fri, and my reading time will be short, but, oh well, it’s Cancun, right? It’ll be for only 4 days though.

For that, my check-in post will probably be written on Wed night and scheduled to come live Sun, or I’ll check in only on Monday … we’ll see.

UPDATE: sorry for posting this update so later, but a tragedy occurred in my town in Brazil, and my thoughts were (still are) there today. Here’s the news of the tragedy, if you’re interested: http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/27/world/americas/brazil-nightclub-fire/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Have a great one!

Cheers,

#ROW80 check-in 01/20

Hey friends! Welcome to my weekly ROW80 update!

Here are my goals for the past week and how it went:

  • Writing: start Breaking the Reins. Send Destiny Gift to the editor. Monday: wrote 2000 words and recycled 1500 words. Just to explain, I say recycle when I copy and paste from some other version or idea, and revise it to fix and adapt it to the new novel/version. Tuesday: wrote 3525 words and recycled 2407 words. Wed: it’s snowed = no school = kid home = no writing. Thu: wrote 2000 words. Fri:  1500 words. Also, sent DG to the editor, and sent the first 13k words of BtR to my CP ;)
  • Reading: finish reading book #4 and #5 of the year. Finished #4, and I’m around 80% on book #5. I also read 15 pages of one CP’s ms (and finished it) and 80 pages (of 155) from other CP’s ms.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times. Done. I’m turning the internet off while writing, so I’m not tempted to pop on twitter.
  • Exercising: at least 4x. Six times.

My goals for the next week:

  • Writing: continue writing Breaking the Reins.
  • Reading: finish reading book #5 and #6 of the year.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times.
  • Exercising: at least 4x.

This week will be complicated. The kid doesn’t have school on Monday, and she has early dismissal on Wed, which means less time for me to write. And, if that was not enough, apparently, it’ll snow a lot this week. If it does, my daughter’s classes will be canceled and I won’t write … I’m not sure how many words I’ll be able to write this week, but I hope it’s enough to keep my self imposed deadline.

On my blogs (this one and NA Alley) this week:

  • NA and the Genre!

  • Entangled Publishing Name the Line Contest Winner
  • State of Emergency Release Day here and here.
  • Trying to be More Productive

  • The Next Big Thing, take 2 (about the ms I’m writing right now!)
  • Author Spotlight: Kinley Baker

  • NA Alley Call for New Members

Have a great week, guys!

Cheers,

Hey friends! Welcome to the first ROW80 update of the year!

Let’s skip all boredom and go directly to the point, shall we?

  • Writing: actually, I’ll revise my novel, Destiny Gift. Done. And played with the outline of the novel I’ll start writing next week.
  • Reading: finish reading book #1 and #2 of the year. Done. I also finish 1 novella and beta-read 100 pages of my CP’s ms.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times. Done.
  • Exercising: at least 4x. Went to the gym 6x.

My goals for the next week:

  • Reading: finish reading book #4 and 5 of the year.

So, guys, I would like your help. Three of those lists are: Highly Anticipated NA Books of 2013, Speculative New Adult Fiction, and 2013 New Adult Releases. I’ll love you forever! Thanks <3

#ROW80 round 01 of 2013 starts today!

If you have been coming around here for a while, you heard about #ROW80. I’ve been participating of it since the fourth round of 2011, so I kinda consider myself a veteran ;)

If you don’t know what #ROW80 is, here it goes:

From the website:

A Round of Words in 80 Days is the writing challenge that knows you have a life.

We are all different and we all have different demands on our time.  Why should we all have the same goal?  The simple answer is that we shouldn’t.  If you want to be a writer, then you have to be able to roll with the punches and adapt to your changing circumstances.  If that means changing your goals when your life blows up, so be it.  ROW80 is the challenge that champions the marriage of writing and real life.

The greatest thing about ROW80 is the people participating in it. I’ve met several writers through ROW80 and made some great friends. They keep me motivated and support me while I go nuts to achieve my goals. We also run writing sprints on weekdays, at 2pm EST on twitter, which is fun and also very supportive.

The first round of 2013 starts today and runs until March 28th.

Like the last two rounds, I’ll set up weekly goals.

So, my goals for the first week:

  • Writing: actually, I’ll revise my novel, Destiny Gift.
  • Reading: finish reading book #1 and #2 of the year.
  • Social media:  Twitter: try to be present, but not too much. Blog: post a couple of times.
  • Exercising: at least 4x.

#ROW80 Check-in 12/16

Hey friends! Welcome to my weekly ROW80 update!

Here are my goals for the past week and how it went:

  • Writing: just keep writing. Honestly, I don’t remember this week all that well. I remember critiquing a lot, then running around with interviews I needed to answer, guest posts I needed to write … I also got edits back from the novella that comes out in Feb and worked on that. Plus, everyone knows what happened on Friday and I just couldn’t get myself to focus on anything else that day.
  • Reading: finish book #76 of the year, and finish critiquing CP’s manuscript. I read book #76, finished the CP’s manuscript, critiqued 65 pages of another CP’s ms, and 3000 words of another CP’s scenes.
  • Social media:  try to be present, but not too much. Same old, same old. The twitter Siren call is too alluring ;)
  • Exercising: at least 4x. Five times.

When I saw the news about the Newtown shooting, I was at the gym. The TV close to me flashed the words: shooting at elementary school in Connecticut. You guys. I had a heart attack. Not really, but I’m sure it was close. Until I was able to hold my cell phone still and search for the news on the web and find out it wasn’t my daughter school, I was freaking out. Still, Newtown is only 30 minutes from here. And it was schocking. Completely shocking. I didn’t relax until my daughter got home. And I cried tons. I just couldn’t stop, thinking about my daughter and about all the parents that would have to go to bed that night (if they were able to sleep) without their children. I went to bed crying. And my daughter slept between her daddy and me that night. It was a terrible night—she moves too much, and kicks and steal the comforter—but I wouldn’t change that for the world. Right now, my eyes are teary, remembering about that awful day.

Then, on Saturday, the day was a bit better. My daughter had ballet class in the morning, a birthday party at noon, then we went to NYC to watch American Ballet Theater’s The Nutcracker!  And I got to see Paloma Herrera dancing! It was gorgeous!

ABT_Nutcracker

Sadly, this is my last update of the round (though it’s only a few days earlier than the official last one), because on Monday I’ll spend the day out of town, and my brother is arriving on Tuesday, which means I’ll be round and about with him until he leaves, after New Year ;)

But I’ll be back for the next round for sure!

Cheers,
