Update!

Hello friends!

Long time, no see! But hey, I haven’t been THAT quiet anymore, have I?

Though, I’m still failing on twitter and a little bit on facebook, I’ve been working A LOT.

My toddler finally started daycare two weeks ago. At first, I used my “free time” to catch up on many chores I had dangling over my head, but now that [almost] everything is done and organized, I’ve been writing many, many words again. And it feels so great!

On Wednesday, for example, I wrote 7k words! I hadn’t done that in … I don’t know, 3 years? That was a long time coming …

Anyway, let me tell about a few things going on around here:

  • Breaking Through is almost, almost done! It releases on Aug 22nd and the pre-order links are up (check this page for the links). There will be a book blitz with giveaways and such during the week of Aug22-26, and if you have a blog, you can sign up for it by following this link here.
  • A few weeks ago, I announced I’ll be writing Breaking Down, the fourth book in The Breaking Series soon, and there will be a cover reveal for it on Sept 12th. Again, if you have a blog and would like to share the cover, please sign-up for it here.
  • I have two giveaways going on right now, one on goodreads, and another throughout all social media. Check them both bellow:

Mystery Box

See this box? Let’s called it a Juliana’s Mystery Box.
What is inside? Well, like the name says, it’s a mystery, but I can tell you it’s bookish ;)
And I’m gonna give it away on Aug 1st … How can you try to win it? Simple. Sign up for my newsletter! http://eepurl.com/CKsmX
If you’re already a subscriber, awesome! You’re already on the run. If you aren’t, then sign up now!
On Aug 1st I’ll randomly choose a winner!
Good luck!

BREAKING THROUGH (The Breaking Series, #3) BTebook

Genre: NA contemporary romance
Warning: strong language, sex scene, mentions of rape and domestic violence
Word Count: 100,000
Release date: August 22nd 2016
Cover: Najla Qamber Designs

From the outside, Hilary Taylor has it all—beauty, money, a caring family, good friends—but inside she’s struggling, full of fears. Events from the past forever changed her, and though years of therapy have helped, she still has a long way to go…. No matter how much progress she’s made, Hil isn’t sure she’ll ever be able to trust men again. Especially one who sees her as nothing more than a pretty face. But Hil knows it’s time to face her fears, and the best way to do that is to start small.

To Guilherme Fernandes life is about three things: polo, parties and pretty girls—only one of which he takes seriously. Gui is too focused on his polo career to waste time on relationships, however he can’t help but be intrigued by the beautiful yet troubled Hil. So when she decides she’d like to learn more about horses, Gui is happy to find himself in the right place at the right time. But what was supposed to be a one time thing, soon turns into a weekly date.

As Gui helps her discover a new found love for horses, Hil’s guard begins to crumble. The more support Gui offers, the more she wants to accept…and the more the lines of friendship blur. Despite knowing better, Hil can’t help it as Gui slowly breaks through the walls she’s built. Now she has to decide if she’ll stop him there, or if she’ll finally let her fear go and allow Gui to reach for her heart.

Writing 300 Words Everyday – Part II

Hello friends!

Remember a month ago when I posted about being in huge writing funk, then I found a quote by Stephen King and immediately went on to follow it? That first post was about my progress during the month of Nov while following that advice.

This post right here is to tell you about my progress during the month of December.

I’ve wrote EVERY DAY during the month of December. I didn’t even miss on my birthday, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. And, because to me writing is addicting, I usually wrote more (and sometimes way more) than just my daily goal of 300 words.

Here’s how the month went:

Word count Dec

As you can see, it went well, even better than November. And I stuck with it. I’m proud of myself that I stuck with my plan, with the quote. And I’ll continue to do so in January, February, March … And forever, I hope.

(Though, once my baby girl starts halfday daycare, my daily word count goal will increase!)

If you are in a writing funk like I was, let this post (and the previous one) serve as an inspiration for you. 300 words is not much that it’ll disrupt your busy day, but enough to make a difference after a couple of minutes months.

I can do it, you can do it!

Cheers,

Hi friends!

A couple of weeks ago, I announced the makeover of the Breaking series and the why behind it.

Today, I’m here to finally show you the gorgeous new covers:

(Previously titled BREAKING THE REINS)

Genre: NA contemporary romance
Warning: strong language, domestic violence, sex scene
Word Count: 110,000
Release date: August/2013
Cover: Najla Qamber Designs

Horses, mansions, tea parties, and lies are twenty-year-old Hannah Taylor’s life. To others, her family and her relationship with Eric is perfect. But she knows the truth. She lives it.

After a fire takes her grandma’s life and kills her horse, Hannah’s immaculate life spirals out of control. Her father disapproves of her decision to run her grandma’s ranch instead of focusing solely on learning the family business; Animal Control brings her Argus, a mistreated horse that she can’t turn away even though she’s not ready for another horse; and her boyfriend, Eric Bennett, a world famous polo player, becomes possessive and authoritarian. Despite her best efforts to disguise it, Hannah grows wary of him.

Then, Leonardo Fernandes struts onto the polo scene. A cocky rookie with a messy life of his own, he’s drawn to Hannah and isn’t afraid of showing it, even when Eric makes it clear she is his and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Hannah suffers for Eric’s jealousy. The abuse only gets worse when Leo steals the title of best polo player in the world from Eric.

But the title isn’t enough for Leo. He wants Hannah too, and she can’t deny her attraction to him either. Somehow, she must find a way to break free from abusive Eric before he breaks every bone in her body.

BREAKING AWAY (The Breaking Series, #2)

(Previously titled BREAKING FENCES)

Genre: NA contemporary romance
Warning: strong language, bullying, sex scenes
Word Count: 95,000
Release date: June/2014
Cover: Najla Qamber Designs

All Beatriz “Bia” Fernandes wants is to prove herself—to her family and friends—though it’s hard to prove anything with an overbearing father and three famous polo-playing older brothers. After her acceptance into college results in a heated family argument, the Brazilian girl leaves everything behind to find her own American dream.

College life away from home is perfect until the people she believes to be her friends turn on her. With lies and rumors threatening to suffocate her, Bia turns to her only freedom. Riding. But one thing gets in the way of her escape. Garrett Blackwell and his bad cowboy attitude. Working at the ranch is his obligation, bugging Bia is his newfound hobby. His thick skin and easy grin don’t hide what Bia already knows—this misunderstood and lonely cowboy fights his own demons. Brushing horses’ coats and mucking out stalls shouldn’t be this sexy, and it isn’t long before he becomes a part of her distraction.

However, escaping won’t solve her problems, and it’s up to Bia to break down the fences around her and prove her strength—not to her family and friends, but to herself … and for Garrett. Because standing on her own doesn’t have to mean standing alone.

The Breaking Series Makeover

Hi friends,

Changing the Breaking Series wasn’t an easy decision. I thought about it for months. But in the end, I guess it’s hard not to change it, and here is why:

I love, love, love the current covers of Breaking the Reins and Breaking Fences, but unfortunately they are are sending the wrong message to the readers. The Breaking Series as it is attracts more horse-book readers, and even though there are horses and ranches in the books, I still think the books are more New Adult Romances than anything else. Nothing wrong with horse-books readers – gosh, thank goodness they have been reading my books – but it’s not the intended market. So, I researched New Adult Romances covers (as if I needed) and guess what? Most of them have kissing couples or shirtless guys on the cover! What a shocker ;)

Everyone I talked to about changing covers and the reason why, agreed with me. So I contacted the wonderful Naj, who designed the cover of Captured Love, and she worked on the new covers.

However, I realized just changing the covers wasn’t enough. The titles didn’t go well with the new pics we chose. Can you imagine Breaking the Reins or Breaking Fences written across kissing couples? It doesn’t make much sense now, does it? So I ended up changing titles too.

Breaking the Reins is now called Breaking Free.

Breaking Fences is now called Breaking Away.

And book #3, which didn’t have a title until now, is called Breaking Through.

3DCoverXBT2

Of course, Naj did a great job. The new covers are beautiful! Can’t wait to show you! Which brings me to the next thing: I contacted Giselle from Xpresso Book Tours and she’s organizing a big cover re-reveal for the old books and a cover reveal for the new book (all together in one post) for Dec 19th. If you want to help me spread the word about the new covers and titles, you can sign up here.

I know it’s a little confusing for now, but it’ll clear up with time :)

Cheers,
