A Day in the Life: Lisa Sanchez

Miss Dawn Pendleton came up with a cool Q&A for authors. She posts them once a week on her blog and I’m taking part on it. I’ll be posting the Q&A here every Saturday.

Today is Lisa Sanchez’s turn!

Adayinthelifeoflisasanchez

Lisa’s lifelong love of writing, coupled with her ability to weave together and intricate and compelling story has led to the release of her New Adult paranormal romance trilogy, the Hanaford Park series (Eve Of Samhain, Pleasures Untold, Faythe Reclaimed).

In her role as a busy stay-at-home and self proclaimed “cheer mom,” on any given day Lisa wears a number of different hats. From taxi driver to chef, nurse to seamstress, laundry woman to enforcer, and, of course, writer, Lisa manages to keep everything together while caring for her husband and three children. The few spare moments left in her day are usually spent reading or writing, and if she’s really lucky, possibly even catching up on some much needed sleep. Lisa and her family currently reside in Tracy, California.

Lisa is represented by the fabulous Brittany Booker of the Booker/Albert agency, and has two projects on submission and a third in the works.

What’s Up Wednesday

My friend Jaime Morrow and her sister Erin Funk created the WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY meme. Here’s Jaime’s explanation about it: “It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. You’re invited to join us if you’re looking for something to blog about, a way to let your blog friends know what’s been going on with you.”

Whats up Wednesday

WHAT I’M READING

I finished Eyre House by Cait Greer on Monday night. It’s amazing and I’m sorry it took me so long to read it – but I was too busy.

Last night, I started Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout because a publicist from Entangled asked me to. But … it was on my TBR list and I do like Jenn and her writing very much, so I would probably get to it at some point anyway.

WHAT I’M WRITING

Last week, I wrote 22k words and I finally finished Breaking the Reins … yay! At first, I thought I could wrap the story at 60-70k words … turns out I typed The End with 94k words! Crazy …

Yesterday, I got an editorial letter from my editor and now I’m working on a plan for revisions. I have to get these revision back to my editor by July 1st – which means my first 2 weeks of Ready. Set. Write! will be spent revising.

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW

Music as always. This one has been on repeat lately:

ALSO, Monday evening I (my writing, actually) got compliments from two different editors – it was great and it lifted my spirits a lot. I wish I could quote them here …

WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO

Isa and the snake

Nothing much.

I took the kid to a birthday party on Sunday and they had an animal show … bunnies, hedgehogs, lizards and snakes! And … the kids could pet them all – including getting a hug from the snake. Here’s my kid:

My mom almost fainted when she saw that photo lol

Whatelse? Hubs was travelling for the last three days, which made the house considerably less noisy … I do hate it when he travels :(

I exercise everyday religiously, including Sat and Sun, but yesterday I just couldn’t. My lower back was killing me and it’s starting to bug me to the point I think I should see a doctor. I know my posture hasn’t been great since I had to stop dancing ballet, but I guess it has been getting worse and worse with time …

And I can’t think of nothing else ;)

Now tell me, WHAT’S UP WITH YOU?

One Moment: Breaking the Reins

So, my dear friend and Brazil-enthusiastic Elyana Noreme tagged me on a fun writing game. Here are the rules: “Search the words “moment,” “forever,” “time,” or the like in your writing, pick your favorite chunk, post on your blog, and tag others! Come back and post your link here so we can read!”

I’ve chosen a snippet from Breaking the Reins, my upcoming NA Contemp Romance.

Enjoy!

NOTE: This passage was not line-edit yet!!

“I see.” Mr. O’Neill’s eyes found me and he smiled. “And you must be Hannah Taylor, famous for your beauty. The rumors don’t lie.”

My cheeks heated, and Eric’s grip on my waist tightened. “That’s a new one,” I said, smiling politely, though all I wanted to do was to walk away from him.

Mr. O’Neill nodded to Eric. “You’re a lucky man.”

“I know,” Eric said, the amusement in his tone gone.

Relief colored Eric’s face when the butler came in, announcing dinner was ready.

The food was delicious and dinner would have been bearable if it wasn’t for Mr. O’Neill constant stare, and Eric’s tight grip on my thigh under the table. Each time the man smiled at me, Eric’s fingers dug in my skin and I pressed my lips together, willing the scream to stay in my throat.

Now, it’s your turn!

And, because I have the Ready. Set. Write! summer intensive in my mind, I’m tagging Elodie, Jaime, Katy, Alison and Erin!

Cheers,

What’s Up Wednesday

My friend Jaime Morrow and her sister Erin Funk came up with the WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY meme about a month ago.

WHAT I’M READING

Eyre House by Cait Green. It’s taking me longer than usual to read … and I don’t mean only this book, I mean lately. I’ve been so, so busy that my reading time has become scarce. Eyre House is a great read so far, and I wish I had more time to read and finish it!

Besides, I have 3 more books waiting for author blurbs I shall provide them by June 18th, so I have to find more time somehow …

WHAT I’M WRITING

Since last Sunday, I wrote 8k words … I’m writing the climax of Breaking the Reins now and it’s intense :)

Hopefully, by next Tuesday, when Ready. Set. Write! starts, I’ll be ready to start writing Everlast #2.

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW

Music as always. I just rediscovered this one: We’re Just Born this Way by Neil Davidge from the score of PUSH.

Other writers. Seriously. It was awesome meeting other writes and authors at BEA, and I feel so great about writing and books right now. I know I said this quite a few times, but it’s worth repeating over and over again: the writing community is so great!

WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO

– I went to BEA last Saturday and it was AMAZING! Here’s a quick recap and some pics!

– I joined the Ready. Set. Write! summer intensive *wink wink* Here’s yesterday’s post about it.

– I’m going crazy with the NA Crush Tourney going on at NA Alley. It’s just … it’s fun, but it’s TOO MUCH work! I’m not complaining, not at all. I love this NA Crush Tourney thing! By the way, the nominations are open and if you read any NA book and liked the hero, click here to nominate him!

Now tell me, WHAT’S UP WITH YOU?

Don’t forget to stop by Jaime’s post and check out the linky of the awesome writers who are participating of this meme!

What’s Up Wednesday

My friend Jaime Morrow came up with the WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY meme about a month ago. Here’s her explanation about it: “It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. You’re invited to join us if you’re looking for something to blog about, a way to let your blog friends know what’s been going on with you.”

I’ve been wanting to participate in it since then, but I don’t always feel like blogging, even with a detailed post outline. So, I don’t promise I’ll post every Wednesday, but I’ll try.

Whats up Wednesday

WHAT I’M READING

I’ve been reading a lot of NA lately (duh) and a bunch of contemporary too.

I just finished In the Air by Crystal Serowka. Being a former ballerina, anything with ballet in it catches my attention. The story was quite nice, but I think it lacked a bigger conflict during the climax. Other than that, I enjoyed the characters and the writing was clean and flowed nicely.

Tonight, I’ll start on the ARC of Eyre House by Cait Greer :)

WHAT I’M WRITING

I’m on the last stretch of Breaking the Reins. I should finish it with another 6-8k words, and that means it should be done by Friday, I hope.

Then, I plan on starting the second book on The Everlast Trilogy, which is still untitled. I hope that by the next What’s Up Wednesday post, I’ll tell you that I’m deep in plotting (or actually, revising and reworking the plot).

There are so many ideas in my head. I bet all writers/authors suffer of this “sickness” … but it’s good. Though I feel overwhelmed and feel like I have to write 10k words per day to be able to write ALL of my ideas (and it wouldn’t be enough), it’s better to have tons of ideas than none, in my opinion. However, it’s hard choosing one to focus on. I mean, my time is practically full until end of Aug/mid Sept writing and revising Everlast #2, but still, I can’t stop planning what I’ll write next … and that’s a huge fight between rewriting my Ancient Egypt story or my Gypsies story. Oh, and I have a couple of contemporary ideas too …

Ugh! Too much to write, too little time …

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW

The same things as always. Music.

I’m in love with all songs played on the TV series Beauty and the Beast. Two of them have been on repeat for quite some time around here: Sugar by Wanderhouse, and Nitesky by Robot Koch featuring John LaMonica.

WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO

– My daughter’s school is still going strong. Her classes end on June 24th. Until then, I have only mornings to write, and, I don’t know, for being the beginning of the day, I spent a lot of time checking my emails and going over feedly, saying hi and morning to everyone on twitter … which takes away from my writing time. But that’s totally my fault, of course.

– I’m getting ready to spend Saturday at BEA! Can’t wait to meet so many writers and readers and bloggers! So exciting!

–  I’m finally back with my exercise routine. Six times a week. Or seven, when I can. Though, I need to cut back on eating too much chocolate and bread and cake. Yum, it’s so hard. Oh, another hard thing? To say no to my dear glass of wine during dinner. Yeah, have been able to stay away from it … so far.

– We “inaugurated” the new house by having some friends over during the weekend. We had a great time :)

Now tell me, WHAT’S UP WITH YOU THIS WEEK?

Don’t forget to stop by Jaime’s post and check out the linky of the awesome writers who are participating of this meme!
