Horses, mansions, tea parties, and lies are twenty-year-old Hannah Taylor’s life. To others, her family and her relationship with Eric is perfect. But she knows the truth. She lives it.
After a fire takes her grandma’s life and kills her horse, Hannah’s immaculate life spirals out of control. Her father disapproves of her decision to run her grandma’s ranch instead of focusing solely on learning the family business; Animal Control brings her Argus, a mistreated horse that she can’t turn away even though she’s not ready for another horse; and her boyfriend, Eric Bennett, a world famous polo player, becomes possessive and authoritarian. Despite her best efforts to disguise it, Hannah grows wary of him.
Then, Leonardo Fernandes struts onto the polo scene. A cocky rookie with a messy life of his own, he’s drawn to Hannah and isn’t afraid of showing it, even when Eric makes it clear she is his and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Hannah suffers for Eric’s jealousy. The abuse only gets worse when Leo steals the title of best polo player in the world from Eric.
But the title isn’t enough for Leo. He wants Hannah too, and she can’t deny her attraction to him either. Somehow, she must find a way to break free from abusive Eric before he breaks every bone in her body.

Hey guys! Long time no see…
Well, I moved to a new home last week and I don’t have internet there … Comcast came to our house the day of the closing, but they said that because our house is too deep into the lot, they need to bring the construction team in to install an amplifier or something like that … so, I’m waiting. A week has gone by and I have no idea when I’ll have internet at home again.
For that, I’ve been missing my ROW80 check-ins … not that there’s anything to report since I’ve been only working on the house lately, but still …
On happy note, the cover reveal of Breaking the Reins is close! Next Thursday, you’ll see my pretty cover! Want to help me spread the word? You can sign up to post it on your own blog: http://www.xpressobooktours.com/2013/04/cover-reveal-sign-up-breaking-reins-by.html Oh, I sent a teaser (with picture) along with the cover, so that should be fun ;)
Oh, Destiny Gift is up for voting on the New Adult Book Club on goodreads, as their next non-contemporary read. You can help me out and vote for my book here: http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/82651-what-do-you-want-do-want-to-be-our-non-contemporary-group-read-for-may
Anyway … I’m around, trying to keep up with all things on my phone, but I’ve been more quiet than normal. Hopefully, I’ll have internet back soon.
Cheers,
Two days ago, I tweeted this: “One of the best things in the world: when a reader tells you it’s way past their bedtime but they can’t stop reading your book. =)” … I’m really grateful for these moments and they make me really, really happy.
Now, I want to share more about these moments with you.
I’ve met Hannah, a book blogger from Australia, when she was organizing her New Adult November event last year – she’s a NA enthusiastic ;) Right now, she is on Destiny Gift blog tour set to go live the last week of April … since her NAN event, we’ve been tweeting a lot, and “pinteresting” a lot … she always goes snooping around my Breaking the Reins board and she writes things like “finish this book already! I need to read it!” hehe
So, the other night, she was reading Destiny Gift for her review and she keep tweeting me while at it. It was so fun … here are some things she tweeted:
@juliana_haygert Just wanted to let you know, in trying to read Destiny Gift, but it’s pretty hard when you’re swooning over Victor! :D
— Hannah (@thegirlinacafe) April 9, 2013
@juliana_haygert Tease! I should be sleeping but I seriously can’t do that right now!
— Hannah (@thegirlinacafe) April 9, 2013
@juliana_haygert Told you I’d enjoy it! Haha :D
— Hannah (@thegirlinacafe) April 9, 2013
@juliana_haygert ahhhhhh he kissed her! About bloody time. Haha *goes back to reading*
— Hannah (@thegirlinacafe) April 9, 2013
@juliana_haygert I kind of want to hate you right now, but I can’t. Oh my God. My feelings. You can’t leave me like this!!!
— Hannah (@thegirlinacafe) April 9, 2013
@juliana_haygert And fyi, that took me just over 3 hours to read. Which means it was freaking fantastic!
— Hannah (@thegirlinacafe) April 9, 2013
And then she wrote this on goodreads: “Words. I can’t even. OMG. I died. I need more. NOW! So torn. Full review to come.”
Hannah may be biased since we’re friends, but still … THIS. This is why writers write!
This makes me so, so happy. I know my book won’t please everyone, but knowing that it does please someone, it’s the world to me ;)
Cheers,
My CP’s book is here!
Fiercely liberal Monica Remy prefers to blend in. Despite her tattoos, piercings, and outspoken personality, she transferred to Central to escape—before she finds out that her next door neighbor is the uber conservative governor son, Trey Chapman.
No matter how hard she tries to avoid Trey, he still finds a way to get under her skin. Monica can’t stand his crisp white shirts or his staunch views on women. But she can’t help counting every freckle on his face and wondering what it would feel like to have him stop talking politics and kiss her.
A class debate project forces the unlikely pair to work together, and the political lines are blurred in late-night make out sessions. But despite their fiery chemistry, Trey’s politics threatens to smother their relationship for good.
Hey, go visit Magan’s blog – she has rafflecopter going on to celebrate!
Cheers,
I always enjoyed reading posts by self-pubbed authors who shared how much they spent to produce/publish their books, and then they shared the sales. It was … helpful, I think. I can’t promise if I’ll share about my sales yet. I think I’ll only know that once the book is out and start selling (*grins*) … but I can definitely share how much it cost me to edit, produce and publish Destiny Gift.

Before deciding to self-pub Destiny Gift, I did send it to other two editors for critiques and that also cost money. I decided to get those critiques because I was getting full requests from agents but they ended passing on the fulls. My CPs loved the damned story … and I even signed a contract to publish it with a small press, but ended pulling it out. I knew Paranormal Romance was a tough sell on the traditional market, so I wanted to make sure I had a good story here. Besides, I couldn’t see it clearly anymore – not after going through it 5000000000 times. After these 2 editors critiqued the manuscript and told me it was great, only a little tightening would do the trick, I decided to self-pub. So, if you want to add the critique of those two editors to my list, here it is: $328.
I’ll have more swag done by Sep/Oct, so that will add to the expenses.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
