First ROW80 update of the year!

Hello everyone!

Here we are, for one more round of ROW80.

Let’s see how I’m doing, shall we?

My goals for round 01 of 2012:

  1. Participate of the EditPalooza workshop offered by Savvy Authors from Jan/2 to Feb/4. (I’ve been warned this is super hard work and consumes many hours of the day. Let’s see if I can keep up!)
  2. Write a novelette (10-15,000 words), revise it and sub it (due Feb 1st).
  3. Write a novella (20-40,000 words), revise it and sub it (due April 1st).
  4. Write a novel (or get as far as I can with it). Actually I’m thinking about re-writing some of my old novels, the ones I wrote when I just started down this path. The stories are good, but the writing isn’t lol I keep saying I need to re-write them, so this might be the time to choose one and get it over with.
  5. Read 2 book every 3 weeks.
  6. Social network: tweet, comment on blogs, and blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins).

Not necessarily in this order.

Social Network:

All done.

Reading:

Finally read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins—just the first one for now. Loved it!

I’m reading Revision and Self-Editing by James Scott Bell—this one is the book used on the workshop I’m taking, so I’ll read it slowly, as the chapters are being asked by the editor on the workshop.

I just began Divergent by Veronica Roth. This book won several awards last year. I’m curious!

EditPalooza:

It’s going well. The really hard work didn’t start yet. For now, we had to re-read our manuscripts as a reader, then answer some questions about it. Now we’re working on our main characters.

Writing:

Not much on this front since I’m taking the EditPalooza course.

But I’ve been brainstorming solutions and conflicts for old manuscripts that I want to re-write after the course and I’m taking note of everything.

How are my fellow writers?

Hope the first week has treat you well!

Cheers,

PS: I’ll be stopping by my fellow ROWers’ blog tonight!

RTW: Writing Paradise

Road Trip Wednesday is a “Blog Carnival,” where YA Highway’s contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody’s unique take on the topic.

This week’s topic:

Describe your dream writing retreat. Where would you go? Who and what would you bring?

At this moment, I’m on my chair and desk, with my laptop hooked up on a larger screen (because I like BIG screens lol), on a corner of the living room. I tried distancing myself and having my own office room, but this way I can still be with my daughter when she is watching a movie and with my hubby when he is playing video-games.

Not an ideal place to write, but it’s working so far.

First, my dream place to visit would not be my dream writing retreat.

This is my dream place to visit:

A little hard to sit down on the sand and write under the hot sun the Egyptian desert, don’t you think?

Alright, then I would choose this place as my writing retreat:

Maldives

The perfect Paradise.

I confess I’m not a sand-and-beach kinda of gal, though I love the ocean. Instead of laying in the sand and sun-bathing, I’m the girl who never gets out of the water ;)

There are many resorts over the crystal-like ocean in Maldives.

Nice, uh?

And I could write on isolated places like this one:

Perfect!

I would bring my laptop and my notebooks and pencils (sometimes I just need to brainstorm on paper), chocolate and wine, and maybe some seafood at times (love seafood!), and I would invite my family to come with me on one condition: if I was allowed to have a few hours each day for myself, alone, to write ;)

I bet these resorts cost a fortune though, so I’m better off on my little corner lol

Your turn. Tell me about your perfect writing retreat? Or dream vacation?

Cheers,

Toxic Cover Reveal

Today, I have the honor of revealing the cover of TOXIC, the sequel of TOUCH, Jus Accardo‘s amazing debut, released on November by Entangled Publishing.

First, a recap of TOUCH:

From GoodReads:

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.
Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.

Guys, if you didn’t read it yet, you should. It’s really, really good!

Now, on to TOXIC.

Are you ready?

Really ready?

Now?

Are you sure?

Ok, then, here it is … the cover of TOXIC:

Isn’t Dez gorgeous?

Of course, we miss seeing Kale, but I was told there will be more Kale goodness on the cover of the third installment ;)

Here’s the blurb (see it on GoodReads):

When a Six saved Kale’s life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she’d lose the one thing she’d give anything to keep… And as if it’s not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez’s problems.
After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice—surrender to Denazen for the cure…or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn’t involve being bagged and tagged—or losing someone she loves—Dez keeps the poison a secret.  But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there’s a traitor among them. Jade.
Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there’s any hope of proving Jade’s guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead…

Doesn’t it sound great?

TOXIC will be out in May. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Cheers,

It has begun!

#ROW80 round 01 of 2012 starts today! (I’m on the road back home at the moment. To me, the round will start tomorrow).

Are you ready?

This is the second round I’m participating. Last round was a success and I hope to repeat the same outcome ;)

My goals for round 01 of 2012:

  1. Participate of the EditPalooza workshop offered by Savvy Authors from Jan/2 to Feb/4. (I’ve been warned this is super hard work and consumes many hours of the day. Let’s see if I can keep up!)

  5. Read 1 book per week.
  6. Social network: tweet, read and comment on blogs, and blog at least once a week (not counting #ROW80 checkins).

Not necessarily in this order.

Check-in posts are due Wednesday and Sundays, but I’ll probably only check-in on Sundays for the whole week.

My check-ins will be posted on my blog, under the #ROW80 category, which makes it easy to find them.
